A FORMER pupil of Skipton Girls High School has published the fourth volume in a series of novels inspired by memories of growing up in Earby.
The Sword and the Greater Good, published by Austin Macauley, and aimed at 15 to 17 year olds, is written by Lynda Thrift, formerly Lynda Sharples, who is now retired and living in the West Midlands, but who maintains strong links with the area.
Her latest book follows the adventures of the mystical sword, with its ability to bend time and space, across the plains of South Africa. The time-travelling sword was first discovered in the thinly disguised fields around Earby in volume one of the series.
The Sword and the Greater Good’s story is based around one young red-headed journalist, setting off to report on conflict in a far-flung corner of the British Empire in 1899. But, even before the young Winston Churchill has reached his destination, he is taken prisoner.
Alarm bells ring loud across the ether, for what will happen to the course of history now?
The Sword and the Greater Good is available now, priced £9.99.
